Terrance Anthony Gutberlet

Obituary

In the early hours of January 7th, 2021, Terrance Anthony Gutberlet Sr. of Cockeysville, MD passed away peacefully at Stella Maris in Timonium, MD.  Born in 1945 as the second youngest of eleven children in Ruxton, MD, Terry lived the majority of his 75 years in the Baltimore area, adopting Erie, PA as his home in later years. An employee of the Social Security Administration for over three and a half decades, he was also a selfless and tireless advocate of Alcoholics Anonymous and substance abuse prevention, as well as an ardent fan of sports of all kinds and at all levels, especially his beloved Baltimore Ravens, Colts, Orioles, and University of Maryland basketball. 
He is survived by a daughter, Lena Beth Wensel, a son, Terrance Anthony Gutberlet Jr., and two grandchildren, Susanna Grace Wensel and Gavin Ired Wensel. He is also survived by two sisters, Maria “Mea” Baldwin and Patricia “Patti” Thomas, and two brothers, Matthew John Gutberlet and J. Paul Klein.  Terry is predeceased by seven other siblings: Loretta “Laurie” Cord, Charlotte “Charlie” Caulk, Joseph Charles “Bo” Gutberlet, Ronald “Rollie” Gutberlet, Suzannah “Sanna” Greene, and Stephen “Wish” Gutberlet, and Marianne Gutberlet. 
A memorial mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist in Hydes, MD (13305 Long Green Pike) on Wednesday, January the 13th at 11 a.m. (broadcast live : www.facebook.com/st.john.hydes/ )
Interment will be in St John Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations in Terry’s name to the Christian Veterinary Mission (cvm.org) or to Helping Up Mission, 1029 East Baltimore St., Baltimore, MD 21202 (www.helpingupmission.org) Online condolences may be left at the funeral home website.
