Michael Joseph Stenson

Obituary

On December 21, 2020 Michael Joseph Stenson passed away due to Covid-19 complications.  He was born on June 6, 1928 in Oak Park, Illinois to Michael and Beatrice Stenson.  He received his master’s degree of education from the University of Chicago, he taught Advanced Placement History at Washington High School for 30 years.  On March 10, 1950 he married the late Mary V. Jaffe.  Loving father of Elizabeth and her husband Jerry Selig also survived by his loving grandchildren, Amy, Valerie, Amanda, and Andrew a great grandchild, Brandon Gregory.  Beloved brother of Mary and the late Eileen and Kathleen. 

Michael was an avid reader and enjoyed his book clubs and swimming.  He was instrumental in starting a library in Bella Vista, Arkansas where they enjoyed their retirement.  He was a proud veteran and served in the Army from July 24, 1952 to June 16, 1954.  He enjoyed doing book reviews for public television and enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends. Cremation services were private.
