Lula Virlene Jackson
On Thursday, August 20, 2020, Lula V. Jackson, loving wife, and Mother of four children was called home at the glorious age 88.
Lula Virlene Browning was Born March 30th, 1932 in Manhattan, New York. She was the last born to the late Mattie Carr and Mark Browning. Sister Tina Browning and Brother Eugene Browning. Lula studied and graduated from James Adams High school in the Bronx, NY. Lula later worked as a private duty health aid for over 30 years.
Lula had a passion for music, she loved Jazz, blues, and gospel music she would listen to her favorite singer Billie Holiday and her favorite song was "Good Morning Heartache". Her Favorite Gospel Song was "Take my hand, precious lord". Lula's spirit animal was an "Elephant" she always believed that they brought on good luck and fortune. Lula's other passions included going to the social clubs in particularly "The Village Door" in Rochdale, New York.
Lula made sure her life was full. She enjoyed shopping and solving her word puzzles. She loved to Crochet, Embroidery, and Hook rug. She treasured vacationing with family which often meant trips from New York City to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Lula loved playing her numbers. "She loved the Casino" and playing family card games which included Pitty pat- deuces wild, Spades, Tonk, and Pokeno.
She met James Henry Jackson in Albany, New York, and later married. Lula and James were married for over 50 years. During that time, her love never withered as a loving and devoted wife and mother. Together they raised their four children. Lula's husband James preceded her in death.
Lula is survived by her four children Lula Ronnell Wright-Hill, Beverly Tanksley, Ronald Jackson, James L Jackson Jr., and niece Dawn Raina Tillery. Stepchildren: Jerome Hunt and Cheryl Jackson. Her grandchildren Jason Clark, Sean Jackson, Deon Cheatham, Dena Cheatham, Ike Wright, Levon Wright, Kevin Tanksley, Jamie Jackson, and Elijah Jackson. Her Brothers-in-law: Fred and Mildred Jackson Sisters-in-law: Christine Jackson, Ernestine Carter. Cousins: Alice Browning and Linda Mugg's and several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
