Lloyd Alan Turcotte (70) died peacefully surrounded by his family after a very brief illness on April 14, 2021 in Maryland.
Lloyd is survived by his life partner Will Thompson, and siblings Wanda Pelkey, her husband Kent, Dana Turcotte and his wife Paula, and nieces and nephews Lorrie Labonville, Sarah Ford, Robin Pelkey, Shane Turcotte and Chris Turcotte. He’s predeceased by his parents Leon and Georgianna Turcotte.
Lloyd was born and raised in Skowhegan, Maine, earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Maine at Farmington and served his country in the Air Force as a weather forecaster. After his service career he earned a second degree at the University of Nebraska and worked as a computer programmer for the State of Nebraska. Love for family brought him back to Maine where he finished his career working for State of Maine. After retirement, Lloyd spent much of his time in the warmer climate of Edgewood, Maryland with frequent visits to his home in Augusta, Maine.
Lloyd loved dearly his wide circle of friends, family and especially his two constant companions, his dogs Rufus and Tina. You could always count on Lloyd for a call or greeting card on your birthday or anniversary, he never forgot you. His interests were varied, enjoying travel, learning Spanish, map-making, and charting weather statistics. He will always be remembered for his gentle kindness and generosity with a special interest in Black and LGBTQ rights.
Services are expected to be held graveside in June in Skowhegan, Maine. More details to come.
