James David Ayd (known to some as Jim or Jimmy) of Fallston, MD received his greatest call yet: an invitation to heaven. James accepted this invitation on Monday December 14, 2020. He was surrounded by loved ones who encouraged his entrance into the Pearly Gates, knowing that he would be surrounded by not only Jesus, but his parents (Jacque and Mary Ayd), his siblings (Joe, Theresa, Judy, Larry, and Isabelle), and his son, David.
James was born on November 30, 1949, grew up in Baltimore, MD and lived a life full of adventure. He married his teenage sweetheart, Anna (Nancy) Marsteller, on August 14, 1971. He explored various career options until his extraordinary talent performing transesophageal echocardiograms was discovered. James worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital for many years in the operating room performing such procedures. He was well respected and took much pride in his work.
However, James’ true pride and joy was his family. Jim and Nancy produced four beautiful children: Laura, Karen, David, and Joseph. James spent many years organizing neighborhood wiffle ball games, attending ball games, dance competitions, performances, and teaching his children to tell a good joke.
With open arms, James welcomed his children's spouses and his grandchildren into his life. Laura (Muller) is married to Bart Muller and has three children: Samuel, Audrey, and Caleb. Karen (Beyer) is married to Ryan Beyer and has four children: Rachel, Nathan, Colleen, and Thomas. Joseph is married to Heather Tallett (Ayd) and has two children: Hailey and Reese. David, however, accepted his own invitation to heaven in 2001. David is excited to welcome his father home.
James will forever be remembered for his ability to make others laugh. His knack for perfect punchline delivery was a gift admired by many. He always managed to bring a smile to someone’s face, even amidst troubling times.
Visitation services will be held on Friday December 18, 2020 at Highview Funeral Services from 11am – 2pm, immediately followed by a graveside memorial service at Highview Memorial Gardens.
