Obituary

Helen Frances Hilditch (nee Flowers), 94, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family with prayers as she peacefully joined Jesus Christ. Born on April 4, 1927 in Baltimore, MD to Frances Shipley Flowers and James Archer Flowers. She was predeceased by her sister Catherine Flowers Ferguson in 1978. Married to Hampton Webster on June 29, 1946 and later divorced after 23 years of marriage; they always remained close friends. They had two children, Steven and Patricia. Later she would remarry to Francis Hilditch until his passing on March 14, 1993.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Steven James Webster and Audrey Webster and by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Jean Vinciguerra and Thomas Michael Vinciguerra. Also survived by her loving grandchildren Adam Pierce Vinciguerra and Melissa Webster Goldman.
Her loving family extends to her niece’s and nephews: Nancy Ferguson Ambrose and her husband Walter Ambrose, Jr.; Michael Ferguson, James Ferguson (deceased), and Leonard Smith (deceased); Great Nieces: Amanda Michael Ambrose, Christiane Louise Griffin; Great Nephews: Shawn Patrick Ambrose, Tim Ferguson, and Walter Ambrose, 3rd.
Helen, of her own accord and at the age of 15, joined the Perry Hall Methodist Church in Fullerton, MD. She got her first job at the age of 17 at a pharmacy in Baltimore City in which she would daily catch the bus to work. After starting a family she became a cosmetic technician for Hutzler Brothers until they ceased operations in 1990. As a cosmetic technician she enjoyed helping people find their outer beauty as well as just chatting with them and making a friend. She continued her love of working with people at Woodward & Lothrop until they ceased operations in 1995. Helen retired at the age of 68.
Helen loved people and would often strike up a conversation with a total stranger and talk about how she met a kind person that day. She thoroughly enjoyed life with her family and friends. She was a supportive, loving Mother and Grandmother. Very content in her last days, she would often say how grateful she was to be able to stay the home that she loved. She could sit on her front porch and enjoy the neighbors as they stopped by for a short visit. Her positive nature, strength, love, kindness, as well as her smiles and sense of humor, will be what we remember about her. Helen enjoyed a few of glasses of wine in the evening and loved watching The Golden Girls. So cheers to you Mom, for living a loving and fulfilling life...we will miss you!
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Perry Hall, Maryland located at 9534 Belair Road on September 29, 2021. The family will receive well wishers between 11:00 am - 1:00 pm which will be followed by a church and graveside services. Helen loved the color red and frequently wore red blouses. In honor of this, the family would love to see visitors wearing a bit of red.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation made in the name of Helen Hilditch to the Alzheimer’s Assocation of Maryland. See donation details below.
