Helen, of her own accord and at the age of 15, joined the Perry Hall Methodist Church in Fullerton, MD. She got her first job at the age of 17 at a pharmacy in Baltimore City in which she would daily catch the bus to work. After starting a family she became a cosmetic technician for Hutzler Brothers until they ceased operations in 1990. As a cosmetic technician she enjoyed helping people find their outer beauty as well as just chatting with them and making a friend. She continued her love of working with people at Woodward & Lothrop until they ceased operations in 1995. Helen retired at the age of 68.
Helen loved people and would often strike up a conversation with a total stranger and talk about how she met a kind person that day. She thoroughly enjoyed life with her family and friends. She was a supportive, loving Mother and Grandmother. Very content in her last days, she would often say how grateful she was to be able to stay the home that she loved. She could sit on her front porch and enjoy the neighbors as they stopped by for a short visit. Her positive nature, strength, love, kindness, as well as her smiles and sense of humor, will be what we remember about her. Helen enjoyed a few of glasses of wine in the evening and loved watching The Golden Girls. So cheers to you Mom, for living a loving and fulfilling life...we will miss you!
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Perry Hall, Maryland located at 9534 Belair Road on September 29, 2021. The family will receive well wishers between 11:00 am - 1:00 pm which will be followed by a church and graveside services. Helen loved the color red and frequently wore red blouses.
