On April 10th, 2021, one of the world’s most beautiful angels was called home.
Gary LaMastra, also known as Dad, Pop-Pop, Coach, and many more nicknames, was a light on Earth. His affection and love towards his wife, Susan LaMastra, his daughters, Shannon and Christine LaMastra, and his granddaughters, Anastasia (“Squeaky”) and Daisy (“Fuzzy head”) LaMastra, was unmatched.
He left a positive impact everywhere he went. Whether it be at his work, Aberdeen Proving Ground, on the softball field, or at a friend’s house, everyone knew it was going to be a good time when Gary LaMastra walked in the room. His contagious smile, witt, and incredible warmth will forever be remembered by the lives he touched.
Gary enjoyed every aspect of life. Some of his favorite activities were fishing at the Susquehanna River, camping with Susan and Anastasia, golfing with his friends, watching Oak Island with Christine, and coaching Shannon’s softball and soccer teams. He had the ability to make everyone laugh and smile, a quality that everyone loved about him.
He was deeply in love with his beloved wife, Susan. Their marriage and relationship was one of a kind, and they were true soulmates. Not even the movies could mimic the love they had for each other. Susan and Gary spent so much time together, and appreciated every little moment.
Gary’s life got cut way too short, but his legacy will never be forgotten, and his family hopes to adopt his best qualities, and allow him to live on within them.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Gary’s name.
There will be a memorial service for Gary in the near future, and more details will follow."
