On December 15, 2020, Evelyn Louise Bailey passed away suddenly at her home in Bel Air.
Evelyn was born in Sparrows Point, Maryland to Ernest and Evelyn Chell. When Ernest passed away, Evelyn married Stephen Gensicki, a wonderful man who the younger Evelyn adored and loved dearly. When Evelyn was younger she was known as Cuddles because of her cuddly nature. In fact, to this very day her beloved sister Myrtle still refers to her as Cuds. She was a 1961 graduate of Sparrows Point High School. For many years, she worked in the retail sporting goods business at which she was excellent. Evelyn loved to crab, fish, read, play cards and go camping. She was also a big fan of pro football and youth sports, especially her grandson’s baseball games and granddaughter’s cheerleading. She volunteered in recreation councils for many years. As a girls softball coach, she was the scourge of umpires in Southeastern Baltimore County reminding some of a female Earl Weaver. Evelyn was never afraid to give you her opinion while coaching or in any other aspect of life! She volunteered for many things over the years and later on in life, Evelyn volunteered at Youth’s Benefit Elementary School as being around little children was a great joy in her life. Her greatest joy however were her own grandchildren Kevin and Jennifer Bailey who miss her tremendously.
Evelyn is survived by her son Charlie and his wife Donna, her daughter Lori Collette and her two grandchildren Kevin and his fiancé Veronica Wohlschlaeger and Jennifer. She is also survived by her sister Myrtle Hurley and husband Jack, nephews Jeff and Dale Horan and Matthew and Steve Hurley.
She was preceded in death by her brother Ernest Chell and his wife Evelyn, sister Catherine “Kit” Gill, sister Peggy Horan and husband Nelson.
