Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Winston Bowling passed away in the hospital on December 15, 2020 in Bel Air, MD due to complications related to COVID-19. He was 76.

Charlie was born on August 20, 1944 in Wichita Falls, TX to Charles T and Josephine Bowling (nee Shaw). He and his mother moved to Baltimore, MD shortly thereafter and settled on Chesterfield Ave near Herring Run Park. He graduated from City College in 1962. He married Carol Winter in 1965. He went on to graduate from CCBC in 1978. The Bowling’s moved around the Baltimore area and eventually settled in Forest Hill, MD while Charles continued to work in Baltimore as a postal worker for many years. Charles left the post office around 1981 and went on to do carpentry work in and around the Baltimore area for some time. He eventually left the Baltimore area to settle in Vernon, TX. He became the proud owner of Don’s Bait in TX and was successful in selling his bait product all over the South around TX and surrounding states.

Mr. Bowling was a kind and gentle man who loved life and worked hard at it. He enjoyed working with his hands and building or fixing anything. He had a passion for old cars, loved to write poetry, listen to his old records and was always there for you when you needed him. In his later years, he developed a passion for fishing at all the watering holes located around TX.

Mr. Bowling is survived by his daughter and two sons. Tom Lawry and JoAnna (nee Bowling) of Kingsville, MD; James and Donna Bowling of Forest Hill, MD; John and Marykate Bowling of Forest Hill, MD;Carol Bowling in Forest Hill, MD; and 8 grandchildren.

Mr. Bowling will be buried in a private ceremony at a later time. Due to restrictions from COVID-19, a memorial will take place this summer to celebrate Mr. Bowling’s life.
